Tekberry is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer III to support the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and automated systems within an advanced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on project engineering role focused on delivering equipment and automation solutions from concept through operational turnover. Position Summary The Electrical Engineer III will provide electrical engineering leadership and technical expertise throughout all phases of manufacturing equipment projects, including construction, installation, testing, startup, debugging, and turnover to operations. The majority of time will be spent on the manufacturing floor supporting equipment installations, troubleshooting systems, and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Project Engineering & Equipment Integration Support the construction, installation, startup, and commissioning of automated manufacturing equipment and systems. Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines to achieve objectives related to safety, quality, budget, and performance. Interface with external system integrators, machine builders, and vendors to deliver fully integrated production systems. Assess existing equipment for compatibility with new manufacturing initiatives and installation plans. Procure and expedite materials required to support equipment modifications and installations. Electrical Engineering Support Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and automation issues affecting manufacturing equipment. Interpret electrical schematics and drawings to support diagnostics and equipment improvements. Modify and improve electrical designs to reduce costs, improve reliability, and eliminate equipment interferences. Support machine controls integration, including analog and digital I/O configuration, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences. Assist in the development and modification of industrial control systems supporting manufacturing operations. Modify software programs used for process equipment control as required. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Supervise and provide direction to engineering technicians, maintenance personnel, contractors, and outside trades during installation and startup activities. Provide hands-on training related to new equipment installation procedures and commissioning activities. Collaborate closely with mechanical, process, manufacturing, and IT teams to ensure successful project outcomes. Effectively communicate project status, technical information, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Documentation & Continuous Improvement Create, review, and revise installation procedures, checklists, equipment specifications, and engineering documentation. Redline drawings and coordinate updates with drafting resources. Support ongoing efforts to improve installation practices and project execution efficiency. Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve equipment performance. Safety & Compliance Promote a proactive safety culture throughout all project activities. Ensure project teams comply with applicable safety standards and corporate requirements. Identify and address potential safety concerns before work begins. Participate in safety investigations and corrective actions as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered in rare circumstances. Strong understanding of electrical power systems operating at 480 VAC and below . Experience supporting manufacturing equipment installation, startup, and troubleshooting activities. Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Experience translating engineering requirements into practical equipment solutions. Hands-on experience using hand tools, instrumentation, and measurement devices. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with:
AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical Microsoft Office Suite PLC and PC-based control systems Automated manufacturing equipment Familiarity with: Beckhoff PLC/Motion Control B&R PLC Control Allen-Bradley PLC/Motion Control Knowledge of
NEC, NFPA
70, OSHA, and other applicable regulations. Project management experience, including scope, budget, and schedule development. Experience working within manufacturing or construction environments. Experience supporting optical fiber manufacturing processes.
SCADA/HMI
development experience. Knowledge of PID control theory. Electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience. Experience developing PLC code to support new and existing manufacturing equipment. Work Environment Advanced manufacturing and industrial environments. Significant time spent on active production floors and equipment installations. Frequent interaction with contractors, technicians, vendors, and engineering teams. Extended standing, walking, and hands-on equipment support may be required. Flexibility to support adjusted schedules and weekend work based on project milestones.
