Electrical Design & Construction Document Phase:
  • Research latest editions of building codes and local code amendments, as well as, any industrial design standards that may affect the technical correctness of project's design.
  • Review site survey reports, attend project meetings and provide support to field construction, as required.
  • Create scope for electrical demolition work, where applicable.
  • Create scope for electrical work required on a project by project basis, for power, lighting, fire alarm, security, tele/data, audio visual, IP Based telephone and Public announcement system.
  • Perform engineering calculations, preparing single line diagrams, sizing of electrical components and equipment, conduct short-circuit analysis where required and prepare technical specification.
  • Review circuit diagram of all lighting feeders to panel and modify control wiring schematics to floor plans as required.
  • Prepare panel schedules and load summaries using NEC Power Load Analysis table to show the total connected and demand loads anticipated for the project elements include Elevator, Escalators, power and communication system
  • Complete NYCT Code compliance reports for all lighting projects using USDOE Communication-Check software package to prove compliance with energy codes.
  • Respond to any questions or comment that New York Transit authorities and their local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and associated review agencies develop during their review which is required to obtain building permits.
  • Prepare alternative design and installation concept for network devices which need upgrades, modification of existing equipment/devices o
Construction Administration Phase:
  • Review Request for Information (RFI's) from contractors during project pre-bid and construction phase and respond as required. Response may require changes in design due to unforeseen on site circumstances or due to Value Engineering by the owner or contractor.
  • Review submittals including shop drawings and product data to ensure compliance with contract specification and design.
  • Response to submittal & RFI related to communication & electrical work , cellular, Wi-Fi, distributed antenna systems, FA, antenna cable, CCTV, access control and intrusion alarms and emergency telephones system via construction administration software Asite.
  • Recommend different design aspect to procurement, design and construction manager based on field observed condition and negotiate & process the additional work order request.
  • Issue bulletin and narratives to project manager or owner chronicling changes that have been made to the design that could impact design & cost.

Construction Close-Out Phase:
  • Prepare checklist and detailed report including installation photos to verify that all analog CCTV signal compatible to IP based signal, power receptacles, light fixture/switches and fire alarm and panel cabinets, CCTV & their cabinets, Video Management Design, Electrical Distribution Room, components are working as designed.
  • Complete Final electrical punch list which must be addressed by the general contractor before final close-out payment.
Bachelor's Degree is required in Electrical Engineering .
