Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Instrumentation and Controls Engineer that has good experience doing project engineering and project management for chemical plants to join our innovative team. In this role, you will do capital projects for our client in Rochester, NY.
You will do the following:
Job Duties
  • Design and program PLC/HMI systems for processes and equipment in the plant.
  • Application of laws and regulations related to new design, and retrofit, of PLC/electrical infrastructure and equipment.
  • Various
PLC/HMI/SCADA
platforms, majority of new programming project will be Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC/HMI/SCADA, eg. Compactlogix, FactoryTalk, RSView, Historian, and InBatch.
  • Conducting research and / or testing into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components, and systems.
  • Planning and managing project work, while reviewing designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Ensuring P&ID, line drawings, and Instument Loop Diagrams of plant equipment match/mate for all assigned projects.
  • Working with plant engineers, maintenance facilitator, and the maintenance manager to ensure contract and project work is successful with regards to controls and instrumentation.
  • Developing controls/instrumentation maintenance standards, schedules and programs and providing guidance to industrial maintenance crews.
  • Helping investigate / troubleshoot electrical/PLC failures or unexpected problems.
  • Assessing wiring design, route design, conduit design for instrumentation/electrical work Provide plant engineering support to production teams.
Project engineer and manage capital expense projects working for Plant Engineering Manager. Advise Engineering Management and Plant Management on process improvements, equipment improvements, and best work practices. Ability to work with QA and QC to improve process and production results. Chemical plant shutdown experience and project planning/management experience. Familiarity with PSM and experience to manage EHS considerations with projects. Work Permit Issuance experience a plus Technical leadership role for chemical plant Qualifications BS or higher in Chemical/Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. PE a big plus 5-10+ years' experience in a chemical plant. Salary commensurate with experience. Good chemical plant capital project experience, 5+ years minimum Project leadership and ability to train more junior engineers in the key competencies therein. Good customer relationship skills to maintain our client relationships on technical and relational levels. Self-starter with leadership ability to site technical leadership Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for manufacturing applications using process engineering principles. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing techniques and improve operational efficiency. Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and AutoCAD tools to create electrical circuit diagams, panel layouts and system schematics. AutoCAD Electrical Experience a plus Manage project schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure timely completion of engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring, control wiring, and assembly of electrical components.
  • Knowledge and experience in programming Allen Bradley PLCs (Software Studio5000) and HMIs.
  • Schneider and general PLC/HMI knowledge a plus
  • Understanding of UL508A.
  • Understanding of NEC and NFPA regulations in electrical design.
Management of Change (MOC) experience
Pay:
$150,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
