The Senior Electrical Engineer researches, designs, and develops embedded electronics and motion control systems in collaboration with software product development. This role combines deep technical leadership, product ownership, and hands-on electronics hardware development, leading the architecture and implementation of complex embedded motion control systems. The role requires a high degree of independence and leadership in complex projects, including management of the full electronics hardware development lifecycle, contribution to technology strategy, on-time delivery, mentorship of junior engineers, and serving as a technical and/or product leader for assigned product lines.
Responsibilities:
Architect, Design, and Develop Embedded Motion Control Hardware Design, implement, and optimize embedded electronics hardware for motion control, servo drives, power electronics, motor control, and industrial automation systems. Own electrical system architecture spanning power conversion, analog, digital, sensing, communications, and mixed-signal domains. Perform component selection, circuit design, tradeoff analysis, and schematic development. Contribute to hardware platform strategy, subsystem definition, and product architecture decisions. Support PCB implementation, layout collaboration, stack-up design, grounding, thermal, DFM/DFT, and hardware integration activities. Translate product requirements into robust, manufacturable, and scalable electrical designs and low level engineering specifications. Lead Hardware Bring-Up, Debugging, and Validation Lead board bring-up, electrical debugging, characterization, and root cause investigation from prototype through production release. Troubleshoot electrical, mixed-signal, and power electronics issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power instrumentation, and engineering diagnostic methods. Analyze switching behavior, efficiency, thermal performance, EMI/EMC, grounding, and signal integrity. Develop and execute validation, verification, and hardware characterization activities. Drive technical issues from initial symptom through corrective action and validated resolution. Support Product Development, Integration, and Manufacturing Readiness Support hardware/firmware integration, system-level debugging, and motion control system development across the product lifecycle. Support design verification, validation, EMC/EMI, safety, regulatory, and agency compliance activities, ensuring adherence to hardware development best practices and industry standards. Support transition from prototype through manufacturing release, production readiness, and sustaining activities, including investigation of manufacturing, field, and customer-reported technical issues. Manage projects independently, adapting to complexity and scale while collaborating across teams to align electrical development activities with product objectives and organizational goals.
Provide Technical Leadership & Strategy:
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers. Contribute to technology roadmaps and strategic planning for electronics development. Lead and actively participate in all phases of the product lifecycle—architecture, implementation, review, documentation, testing, release, and long-term maintenance. Support coordination across teams, including software/firmware, QA, and product management. As a Technical Leader, provide technical direction, work coordination, mentoring, and oversight for contributing engineers on assigned projects, products, or initiatives (as assigned). As a Product Leader, take ownership of a specific product line's hardware development, documentation, testing, maintenance, quality, and support (as assigned).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of professional experience in embedded electronics development. Demonstrated ownership of complex embedded systems or product architectures in production environments. Expert-level experience with electronics architecture, power, analog, digital, and mixed signal circuits. Expert-level proficiency in detailed circuit design, modeling, analysis, and schematic capture (Altium). Expert-level proficiency with electronic test and measurement equipment. Strong experience with PCB layout and board-level design practices (PCB stack-up, thermal management, grounding, noise mitigation, signal integrity, and design for EMC/EMI compliance). Strong experience in hands-on bring-up, test, and debugging of embedded electronics and power stages. Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply key technologies including power conversion (SiC, GaN, MOSFET, IGBT), BLDC / PMSM motor systems, DC / DC conversion, inverter stages, signal conditioning, feedback devices (EnDat, BiSS, SSI, hall sensors), Ether
CAT, CAN.

Pay:
$110,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
