Controls EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support industrial control systems that automate production equipment and processes. The role focuses on developing reliable PLC-based control solutions, integrating HMIs and robotics, creating and interpreting electrical schematics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, efficient, and maintainable automation systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and implement PLC control programs for new and existing machinery and processes.
Configure and integrate HMIs, SCADA, and operator interfaces to provide intuitive system control and diagnostics.
Develop, review, and maintain electrical wiring diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts; produce documentation in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent tools.
Commission and debug control systems onsite, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and robotic interfaces.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure control solutions meet functional and safety requirements.
Conduct risk assessments, adhere to electrical and safety standards, and implement control strategies that include interlocks and emergency stop systems.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for installed systems, including remote diagnostics and on-site repairs.
Write clear technical documentation, test procedures, and training materials; train operators and maintenance staff.
Participate in project planning, cost estimating, and schedule tracking to deliver automation projects on time and within budget.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs (required).Hands-on experience with at least one PLC platform (Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens) Rockwell experience preferred.
Experience configuring and developing HMIs and operator interfaces (nice to have).Familiarity with robot programming and integration (nice to have).Strong understanding of electrical wiring, control schematics, and panel design; experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools (nice to have).Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Effective written and verbal communication skills; experience creating technical documentation and training materials.
Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support as required.
