Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems & Load Banks
  • Will assist with relocation/sponsorship
  • Job Description This role focuses on planning, managing, and coordinating electrical engineering design work for power systems and load bank products, with an emphasis on cost-effective, manufacturable solutions.
You will interpret customer specifications, support sales with technical proposals and pricing, and develop innovative electromechanical products used to test generators, turbines, UPS systems, and other critical power equipment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing product line in high demand, driven by the expansion of data centers and modern power infrastructure, with relocation assistance available. Responsibilities Plan, manage, and coordinate engineering design work for electrical loads and power systems using standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Assist the sales team in preparing technical proposals and pricing for engineered orders related to power systems and load banks. Support sales in customer interactions and sales calls by providing technical expertise when needed. Interpret customer specifications, drawings, and one-line diagrams to develop technical solutions and accurate cost estimates. Design and develop products that deliver optimal cost and performance, ensuring they meet customer and application requirements. Create and manage complete design packages and coordinate their release to the drafting department. Generate test procedures, manuals, and other technical documentation required for the products. Collaborate with assembly, procurement, and field technicians during product build, testing, and startup to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Coordinate engineering responses and action plans to address design, manufacturing, or field-related challenges. Work as part of a project team to deliver cost-effective, manufacturable designs aligned with customer requirements and company standards. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. At least 3 years of experience developing and creating new products in the electromechanical products space. Experience with OEM electrical design activities, preferably in power design, generation, distribution, or protection. Hands-on experience working with industrial equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Knowledge and practical use of ERP systems in an engineering or manufacturing context. Experience in some of the following areas: power conversion, electrical systems, switchgear, utility power, electrical construction, substations, or generators. Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, and one-line diagrams and translate them into practical engineering solutions. Strong skills in designing cost-effective, manufacturable electrical solutions that align with customer requirements. Proficiency in creating technical documentation, including test procedures and product manuals. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, drafting, assembly, procurement, and field technicians. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience designing products or systems in the electrical testing space. Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other relevant safety agency requirements. Familiarity with industrial controls and communication protocols used in power and testing applications. Exposure to load banks, including resistive and reactive load banks used to test generators, turbines, UPS systems, and other power equipment. Experience working on new product development projects for power or electromechanical equipment. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with short to medium time frames. Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to resolving build, test, and startup issues. Clear communication skills for providing project updates and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Interest in working on innovative products that support critical power applications for data centers and other high-demand environments. Work Environment You will work in a newly renovated office located close to the manufacturing facility, enabling frequent collaboration with production, assembly, and test teams. The environment combines office-based design work with regular interaction on the shop floor for build support, validation, and troubleshooting. You will be part of a project-focused engineering team, typically managing several projects at once with time frames ranging from one to three weeks. The role centers on power systems and load bank technologies, including products that safely mimic electrical demand to test generators and turbines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $63.00/hr.
