Electrical Engineering Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for developing, modeling, and documenting electrical systems using 3D CAD software. This role involves creating detailed electrical layouts, cable routing, panel designs, and installation drawings while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop 3D electrical models for industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects. Create electrical equipment layouts, cable tray routing, conduit systems, and wiring diagrams. Design electrical panels, control systems, and power distribution systems. Generate detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and construction documentation. Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and process engineering teams to resolve design clashes. Perform electrical load calculations and equipment sizing. Review and update drawings based on project changes and field requirements. Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, and applicable local codes. Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning activities. Support construction, installation, and commissioning teams with technical guidance. Maintain accurate engineering records and revision control. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 3+ years of experience in electrical design engineering. Proficiency with 3D design software such as: AutoCAD 3D Revit MEP SolidWorks Electrical EPLAN Bentley OpenBuildings/OpenPlant AVEVA E3D or SmartPlant 3D Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems. Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards. Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification. Experience in industrial, oil & gas, data center, or manufacturing environments. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows. Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary design coordination.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
