Job Description:
Job Description We are currently seeking a Plant Engineer to join our Irvine, PA facility. Operates a fully integrated steel-making process, including a scrap yard, electric arc furnace, ladle furnace, vacuum tank degasser, vacuum oxygen decarburization unit, teeming bay, annealing furnaces, and shipping operations. You'll play a key role in driving improvements across this complex and dynamic operation. What You'll Do Using your engineering expertise and independent judgment, you will lead the development, installation, and modification of equipment and infrastructure across the plant. You'll manage projects from concept to completion-ensuring they meet budget, schedule, and performance expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Identifying and managing continuous improvement opportunities for plant infrastructure and equipment Preparing specifications for bids and assisting with vendor negotiations and contract evaluations Coordinating with contractors and equipment suppliers to ensure timely project execution Researching, designing, maintaining, and implementing electrical systems, components, and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce costs Developing working knowledge of facility systems (water, storm sewer, utility gas, etc.) Supporting Maintenance with troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems Helping develop maintenance talent through hands?on instruction or external training resources Assisting in the selection of Multi?
Skilled and Automation Technicians Staying current with environmental regulations and maintaining Title V Operating Permit data and DEP waste stream documentation What You Bring Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; OR minimum 5 years of experience in steel or heavy industry with relevant education Environmental experience is a plus General knowledge of civil engineering related to structural steel and concrete Strong computer skills Knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages Proven project management experience Demonstrated leadership abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Valid driver's license
