GHSP, based in West Michigan, is a leading global supplier of mechanical and electromechanical systems to the automotive, transportation, and appliance industry. GHSP is offering an exciting opportunity to participate as a Marketing Intern in the day-to-day activities of our Marketing & Communications department. You will learn from some of the best in the industry in a comfortable environment. This is a part-time or full-time Internship position with flexible hours, Monday - Friday, starting on-site in Holland with the potential for hybrid/remote work. This internship begins in May 2026. We are seeking a candidate who is available to work full time during the summer, with continued part-time availability throughout the school year preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Controls Engineering Intern position is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of control systems for manufacturing equipment for manual to highly automated assembly and test equipment. This engineering assignment will involve interaction with the Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams to troubleshoot electrical and controls of manufacturing equipment, and will also involve writing software and PLC code for machines. The engineer should be able to work independently as well as in a team based environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot and assist with controls issues on production equipment Assist in programming equipment, robotics, inspection cameras, and operator interfaces Verification of all controls requirements on manufacturing equipment Assist with integrating electrical safety requirements into equipment Assist in the delivery of all required electrical systems documentation Help in the development of specifications (include electrical/programming/hardware requirements)
QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other applicable field of Engineering Interest in controls design and improving assembly / test equipment
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Proficient in MS Office products Understanding of PLC controls/Ladder Logic/Visual Basic techniques Hands on technical experience and problem solving capability Demonstrated understanding of mechanical/electrical concepts Good communication skills / team experience
