Controls Engineer Job Overview The Controls Engineer will join a project team responsible for delivering automation solutions to customers across a range of manufacturing environments. This role focuses on the design, development, implementation, and documentation of control systems, while working closely with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle. The position is full-time, salaried, and offers clear opportunities for advancement for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and document control systems that meet customer and project requirements. Participate in and lead project teams to ensure high-quality technical deliverables. Communicate directly with customers-both on-site and remotely-to gather requirements, present solutions, and collaborate on system designs, particularly when requirements are not fully documented. Travel to customer sites to implement, commission, and test automation solutions; ability to be on-site 100% of the time when required. Support customers located between Danbury, CT and White Plains, NY; candidates should live west of Danbury or be able to reliably support this territory. Collaborate with project managers, subject matter experts, and business leadership to assess project status and determine the most effective path to successful execution. Mentor and support fellow engineers by sharing controls concepts, best practices, and project methodologies. Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and design through implementation and closeout. Required Skills & Experience Five (5+) years of automation and controls experience in manufacturing or industrial environments. Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI systems; standard PLC/HMI experience required. Strong preference for Allen‑Bradley and Rockwell Automation experience. Experience with SCADA, DCS, and/or MES systems is a plus. Solid understanding of process control principles and industrial automation practices. Proven ability to deliver projects to successful completion across the full lifecycle. Strong customer-facing communication skills; ability to clearly understand and translate customer needs that may not be formally documented. Professional, positive, and collaborative working style. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software tools. Willingness to support project needs outside normal working hours when required. Valid driver's license. Ability to comply with employment•and customer-mandated drug testing and background checks. Education Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Bioengineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
