12-Month W2 Contract-to-Hire About the Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer / Specialist to support the testing, startup, validation, and optimization of critical facility systems across a variety of projects. This role combines both field and office-based responsibilities, providing the opportunity to lead commissioning efforts from project planning through final turnover. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commissioning, electrical systems, building infrastructure, and mission-critical environments. You will work closely with clients, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure systems are installed, tested, and operating safely and efficiently while meeting all design and operational requirements. This position offers the opportunity to support commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects across complex facilities, including mission-critical and data center environments. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute commissioning activities for building, facility, and infrastructure systems. Develop, review, and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts. Perform and oversee system startup, functional performance testing, QA/QC verification, and integrated systems testing. Validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical, mechanical, life safety, and low-voltage systems. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system deficiencies during commissioning activities. Coordinate closely with owners, contractors, design teams, vendors, and facility personnel throughout project execution. Document test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, and final commissioning reports. Support retro-commissioning and re-commissioning efforts focused on operational efficiency and system optimization. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve facility performance, reliability, and maintainability. Basic / Required
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum 5 years of progressive commissioning experience supporting one or more of the following: Utility infrastructure Electrical power systems Building automation and controls Low-voltage systems Life safety systems Commercial or industrial facility systems Facility operations and maintenance (O&M) Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET standards, testing procedures, and code requirements. Experience performing system startup, functional performance testing, and commissioning documentation. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and client-facing skills. Ability to work independently in fast-paced project environments. Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%, including extended onsite project assignments. Desired / Preferred
Qualifications Experience supporting mission-critical facilities, data centers, or other high-availability environments. Knowledge of integrated systems testing and commissioning best practices. Familiarity with electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, and critical infrastructure. Professional certifications related to commissioning or building systems are a plus.
