Location US-CT•London Seat Location EB London Facility Trade Engineering Shift 1st Security Clearance Required Secret Overview The Electromagnetics group is seeking a professional in the areas of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control. Successful candidates will support EMC and ESD work for all electrical systems on all submarine platforms. EMC responsibilities include analysis of electromagnetic coupling and potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems on submarine systems, EMC testing, determination of EMC test requirements for system procurement specifications, and shipboard system testing/troubleshooting. ESD responsibilities include development and implementation of ESD requirements via the company-wide ESD control program, technical evaluations for potentially damaged equipment, and deckplate support for ESD issues/concerns that arise. This position is 1st shift Monday through Friday. Hybrid work schedule available. Position requires minimal travel.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
5+ years of related experience in electromagnetic/electrical
Ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance
Preferred:
Related experience in the following areas:
Electromagnetic analysis/evaluation/modeling
Electromagnetic hands-on testing (DoD or commercial), including familiarity with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and other general electrical test equipment
Evaluate and recommend materials, components, and design modifications to improve EMC/EMI performance based on analysis and testing results
Collaborate with design and development teams to integrate EMC/EMI considerations into product designs, ensuring optimal performance
Electrostatic discharge analysis/evaluation/testing/program management
Practical/theoretical EMC or ESD experience, particularly with requirements associated with
MIL-STD-461, DOD-STD-1399
Section 070, NAVSEA
S9407-AB-HBK-010, ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC
61000-4-2, or
MIL-STD-1686.
Familiarity with MATLAB, Opera 3d (or other finite element analysis software), LabVIEW, SPICE-based simulation software, Visual Studio (using Visual Basic-based language), and/or Teamcenter. Skills Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills which are necessary to function successfully in existing teamed environments.
The ability to multi-task and possession of skills that permit independent functioning without significant oversight is also desired.
