Job Description

Principal Electrical Engineer Location:
Manchester / Warrington (Hybrid
  • 2 days office / 3 days home, flexibility where needed) Permanent Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver electrical design across HV transmission and distribution projects (132kV-275kV+)
  • Produce and review design deliverables, specifications, and Bills of Quantity (BoQs)
  • Work on substation, cable, and network infrastructure projects
  • Support technical reviews, design assurance, and risk assessments
  • Engage with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), and network stakeholders
  • Support construction, commissioning, and project delivery teams
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects
  • Mentor engineers and support team capability Requirements
  • Experience working on UK transmission or distribution networks
  • Strong knowledge of HV systems (132kV / 275kV / grid or DNO environments)
  • Experience with substations, cables, or network infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with UK standards, specifications, and design assurance processes
  • Experience working with contractors, ICPs, or client-side delivery teams
  • Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and regulated environments
  • Practical, delivery-focused mindset with strong stakeholder engagement
