Job Description

Job Title:
Protection Engineer Job Description A System Protection Engineer will work to create successful programs, studies, and reports for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including transmission & distribution, generation, institutional, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities Conduct system studies such as Short Circuit, Protective settings, Coordination, Harmonics, Motor Starting, and Arc Flash. Program relays using SEL, GE, ABB, Basler, Siemens, SquareD, Beckwith. Perform Power Quality Studies ranging from load studies to forensic analysis. Engage in performing Failure Analysis and Trouble Shooting. Develop estimates for complex, non-standard projects. Participate in both internal and external meetings as required. Provide technical support to testing teams, including analyzing power quality tests, medium voltage cable tests, relay test results, and relay event reports. Offer training and guidance to less experienced engineers. Consult on design and implementation with customers. Perform quality control reviews of projects as required. Essential Skills Fault analysis Arc flash Protection circuits Experience with SKM, P&C, Substation, Power system Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Engineer in Training (EIT) certification Valid Driver's License At least 1 year of experience in System Studies, Relay Programming, Power Quality Studies, Failure Analysis, and Trouble Shooting Knowledge of SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, PSSE, PSLF, ASPEN Familiarity with NFPA and IEEE standards Work Environment The work environment includes a mix of in-office, work-from-home, and fieldwork settings, depending on project demands. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
