Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy A growing engineering and consulting organization focused on renewable energy projects is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar projects. This position will play a key role in the development and review of electrical engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, constructible designs. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, solar design, code compliance, and practical project execution experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support electrical design activities for commercial and utility-scale solar projects
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, site layouts, equipment specifications, and construction documents
  • Review project documentation with a focus on constructability, quality, and code compliance
  • Support utility interconnection efforts, equipment selection, grounding approaches, and protection concepts
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and project management teams throughout project development and execution
  • Participate in site visits and provide engineering support during construction and commissioning activities
  • Serve as a technical resource for electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 4-8+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within solar, renewable energy, power systems, EPC, consulting, or utility environments
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, community solar, or utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Strong understanding of NEC requirements and electrical design best practices
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, power distribution systems, grounding, protection, or related power systems concepts
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and other industry-standard electrical design software
Preferred Experience:
  • Solar project experience ranging from commercial systems through utility-scale developments
  • Exposure to EPC project execution and field implementation
  • Experience with energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Familiarity with ETAP, PVsyst, SKM, or similar engineering software
  • Experience working with developers, utilities, or institutional clients
Location & Travel:
  • Hybrid/remote flexibility available for the right candidate
  • Preference for candidates able to visit the Hoboken, NJ office periodically (weekly or biweekly preferred)
  • Approximately 10% travel for project sites, client meetings, industry events, and conferences
