Senior Project Engineer, MEP Electrical CommissioningLocation:
New York, NYSalary Range:
$100,000 - 115,000 Full Time Hybrid | Experienced, 4+ YearsAbout the RoleAn established engineering consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to support MEP electrical commissioning efforts within its Field Operations team. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong technical competence, excellent coordination abilities, and proven project management skills.

The Senior Project Engineer will lead larger, more complex projects and serve as the primary point of contact for fieldwork. You will collaborate closely with design teams, proactively solve interdisciplinary challenges, and balance client relationships with project performance goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesRead, interpret, and analyze construction documents including design drawings, submittals, and specificationsReview project specifications, contract drawings, and applicable code sections to develop project-specific inspection and testing scripts for multidisciplinary systemsPrepare method-of-procedure documents and system-level testing protocols in alignment with client requirementsDirect equipment- and system-level testing to verify performance against project requirementsDocument testing outcomes, identifying and describing discrepancies and operational issuesInterpret industry standards, guidelines, and certification program requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED, WELL)Ensure project processes are aligned with certification requirementsReview equipment performance data such as BMS trend logs and field measurements; identify normal and abnormal operational conditionsConduct site surveys and document technical field observationsMaintain a strong working knowledge of local Building Code requirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program4+ years of relevant professional experienceDemonstrated experience with Retro-Commissioning and Local Law 87 (LL87)Professional certification (e.g., LEED, CCP, CEM)Broad understanding of all trades involved in project deliveryStrong understanding of production workflows and team capacity as they relate to meeting project milestonesFundamental proficiency with design software tools applicable to MEP workflows (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD)Advanced understanding of energy codes and building codes as they relate to commissioning and field servicesWhy Join the TeamWork within a firm that blends engineering heritage with innovation in smart building systems, energy performance, and carbon reductionJoin a collaborative environment that values mentorship, technical excellence, and continuous learningContribute to impactful projects across commercial, healthcare, aviation, life sciences, and data center sectorsAccess multiple office locations across major Northeast citiesWhat We OfferHybrid working model with flexibility to split time between home and officeComprehensive benefits package, including retirement plan with employer match and stock optionsPaid time off (PTO), volunteer programs, and employee resource groupsProfessional development through structured internal training programsIf this seems like the right opportunity to advance your career in MEP electrical commissioning, we encourage you to apply!
