Job Description

Role Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer is an experienced professional responsible for leading electrical design and analysis tasks for diverse field projects and fabrication offices. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout project phases from inception to construction completion. The Senior Electrical Engineer may act as a discipline lead, overseeing internal and external resources to ensure project success and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities Lead the development of comprehensive electrical power distribution construction drawings and specifications in line with industry standards such as IEEE, NEC, and NESC. Independently evaluate, select, and adapt technical techniques and procedures for electrical engineering projects. Design complete electrical systems, components, or processes with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. Prepare detailed project documentation, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical reports, ensuring thorough review and accuracy. Conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to inform design decisions and problem-solving efforts. Coordinate project tasks with engineers, designers, external vendors, contractors, and administrative staff to meet project objectives. Manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations, ensuring adherence to project plans and standards. Support proposal development for new projects, funding, or professional services. Attend project meetings, present technical aspects of electrical design, and communicate effectively with stakeholders including clients and project teams. Assist with troubleshooting complex technical issues, modifying approaches when necessary, and maintaining high standards of safety and ethics. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable; if not licensed, candidates must obtain PE within one year of appointment. Six or more years of related electrical engineering experience, with demonstrated success in power distribution systems. Strong proficiency in developing electrical construction drawings and specifications, including experience with medium voltage utility tie-ins and low voltage facility distribution. Knowledge of and experience with IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards. Experience leading electrical projects, monitoring budgets, and coordinating deliverables. Ability to interpret client specifications, procurement standards, and commissioning processes. Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and electrical modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, or PSS. Experience designing layouts, grounding studies, and protection/coordination studies is strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret project schedules from MS Project or Primavera. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of working on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Willingness to work occasional overtime and travel as required.
Publishing Pay Range:
$60.00-$75.00 hourly This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
