Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will work out of our Seneca, SC campus. The Senior Controls Engineer plays a key role in designing and developing electrical and control systems for manufacturing operations. This role is also responsible for optimizing production efficiency by evaluating performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions. Operating within the Drivetrain Systems All-Wheel Drive Engineering matrixed organization, the Senior Controls Engineer collaborates closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure seamless execution of projects. Standard Duites :
Design and develop electrical and control systems for industrial automation. Collaborate with machine vendors to review controls designs, ensuring compliance with BorgWarner standards and timely equipment delivery. Program and configure plant floor data interfaces for traceability. Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting controls hardware. Provide technical support for production core teams and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop comprehensive work instructions for control processes, including PLCs, automation, and system programming. Contribute to the development of a robust Process Control Plan for production. Design control systems that align with plant initiatives, including CO2 reduction efforts. Ensure manufacturing, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
Strong proficiency in Windows/Microsoft-based applications. Experience in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC programming. Skilled in Electrical AutoCAD. Expertise in robot programming (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB). Vision system programming knowledge. CNC programming experience. Familiarity with torque fastening systems. Understanding of Ignition traceability. Basic SQL knowledge. Networking with various communication protocols
  • Familiarity with safety standards for industrial equipment (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
Additional Information:
Occasional travel required (up to 5%).

  • All employees must adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience.
