Electrical Technician

Fire Equipment Sales & Services (FES), located in Sumter, SC is a custom sheet metal fabrication shop that specializes in fire apparatus. We are committed to meeting the unique needs of the fire departments throughout the Eastern United States with quality, made-to-order equipment. We are seeking an Electrical Technician to support the production of specialty emergency vehicles, including brush trucks, ambulances, and related custom vehicles. This role installs, wires, tests, and troubleshoots vehicle electrical systems to help ensure each vehicle is built safely, accurately, and ready for customer use. Key Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, and secure wiring, electrical panels, lighting, switches, sirens, chargers, inverters, and related vehicle electrical components.
• Proficient in making 12V harnesses; troubleshoot and install 12V systems and components such as battery chargers, air pumps, lights; V-Mux system; dump chutes and all other electrical components.
• Read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, work orders, and build specifications.
• Test and troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems using meters, diagnostic tools, and production documentation.
• Identify and communicate quality, safety, parts, or installation concerns.
• Complete repairs, rework, and corrective actions to support production and final inspection.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards.
• Work with production, quality, engineering, parts, and service teams to resolve build-related issues. Minimum Qualifications
• Experience with electrical wiring, installation, troubleshooting, repair, or assembly in a manufacturing, automotive, industrial, heavy equipment, RV, marine, fleet, or related environment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, work orders, and technical instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, crimping tools, wire strippers, and electrical testing equipment.
• Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, wiring, connectors, grounding, switches, relays, fuses, and circuit protection.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and perform physical job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire apparatus, brush trucks, commercial vehicles, or vehicle upfitting.
• Experience with 12V vehicle electrical systems, warning lights, sirens, chargers, inverters, auxiliary batteries, or control panels.
• Technical training or certification in electrical systems, automotive technology, electronics, or a related field.
• Experience in custom manufacturing, quality inspection, or production troubleshooting.
