Electrical Machine Design Engineer About the Opportunity We are partnering with a highly respected, Japanese-owned automotive manufacturer in the local area to identify a skilled Electrical Machine Design Engineer. Position Overview The Electrical Machine Design Engineer will play a key role in designing, programming, debugging, and supporting automated production systems. This position is highly hands-on and collaborative, contributing to electrical design, controls development, and the continuous improvement of automation technology across the facility. You'll work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership to bring innovative concepts from design through implementation. Key Responsibilities Design, program, debug, and support automated production systems and automation equipment Provide electrical design input throughout concept, development, and implementation phases Support facility infrastructure, controls programming, and equipment design initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, supervisors, operators, and management Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems to resolve issues and collect data for continuous improvement Establish standards for new control equipment and help introduce new technologies into the business Drive continuous improvement efforts while developing project management skills Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer or in a similar automation-focused role Strong expertise in PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and electrical controls Experience with electrical design and AutoCAD Electrical Proficiency in machine design, PLC programming, and project execution Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or Mechatronics Associate degree with relevant hands-on experience will also be considered Proven analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Preferred Experience Formal training or extensive experience with PLCs (including
OMRON CJ & NJ
platforms) Robot experience, including RC8 systems Hands-on AutoCAD Electrical experience in a manufacturing environment Work Environment & Benefits Office-based role located in Maryville , with minimal travel to nearby regional facilities Stable, clean manufacturing environment with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement Competitive compensation package including generous holiday and vacation benefits Opportunity to grow with a well-established, employee-focused automotive manufacturer Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
