Must-Haves BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) or equivalent degree 5-10 years of engineering experience in product design and development Familiarity with 3D modeling software for design and documentation Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical support Preferred Qualifications Electric utility product line experience , particularly with transformers or power distribution equipment Manufacturing environment experience with understanding of production processes Proficient with 3D modeling software , preferably SolidWorks or ProE Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles What You'll Do You'll lead the design and development of new products for the electric utility market, taking concepts from initial design through prototype testing and production release. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of power infrastructure products used across the industry. You'll develop product part and assembly designs, drawings, and specifications that meet technical, functional, and manufacturing requirements. This includes evaluating and recommending specifications to ensure products perform reliably in demanding utility environments. Your technical responsibilities include performing feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs, and managing prototype development and testing to validate performance before production. You'll write test reports for internal use and publication , contributing to the company's technical knowledge base and industry reputation. You'll review and analyze proposed product changes , facilitating the creation and approval of engineering drawing changes while ensuring updates maintain product integrity and compliance. Throughout the process, you'll recommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures that balance innovation with manufacturability. Working both independently on moderately complex product lines and collaboratively with the engineering team , you'll ensure project milestones are met and timelines are maintained. You'll also provide technical support for field sales personnel , translating customer needs into engineering solutions and helping the sales team win new business.
