Core Engineering What You'll Do The Engineering Commercial Construction Office (ECCO) Electrical Engineer Design Plan Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing detailed design plans, as-built drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, submittals for construction permits and issuing construction permits. All Electrical Engineers Design Plan Reviewers will apply technical expertise and a wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in the Electrical Engineering field, with either a power or instrumentation focus. This involves providing self-performed technical solutions to difficult problems through established engineering practices, codes, and standards, and offering field troubleshooting support to inform design for corrective maintenance. Responsibilities include preparing conduit/cable schedules, conduit/equipment plans, one-line diagrams, wiring/connection/schematic diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, various sections/elevations/details, calculations, datasheets, and construction specifications. Power Electrical Design Engineers will focus on industrial systems at medium (15 kV class) and low (< 600 V) voltage levels, designing infrastructure and equipment like substations, transformers, switchgear, and general building electrical systems. Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Electrical Design Engineers will develop wiring/loop diagrams, cabinet assembly drawings, system diagrams, and control logic for both batch and continuous processes using analog instrumentation, distributed digital control systems, and programmable logic controller (PLC).
Key Responsibilities Engineering Foundations:
Basic understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and practices, demonstrated through experience in researching, designing, testing, analyzing, verifying, and validating engineering solutions. Knowledge of, and experience in, related engineering disciplines. Take ownership of tasks and contributions to deliverables, actively working towards project milestones and programmatic objectives. Understanding of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering disciplines. Ensure safety and security compliance, maintain required training, and integrate safety and security into every task, with the authority to stop work if unsafe or compromising security. Knowledge of facility business and operations support, resources, practices, processes, and policies needed to solve problems and accomplish work.
Hands-On Project Experience:
Familiarity with analysis or testing in areas such as electronics, signal analysis, control systems, data acquisition, and data analysis, gained through class projects and/or work experience. Demonstrated experience designing, planning, and executing research and development and ability to act as an independently functioning skilled contributor for assigned projects. Computer-literacy and good working knowledge of software tools that support architectural design activities, including computer-aided design (CAD). Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering drawings. Ability to review projects for technical accuracy. Skills in effective planning, writing, organization, communication, schedule compliance, personnel management, and design management. Ability to present information clearly and effectively through oral and written communication. Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties. Ability to work effectively in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders. Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process. Ability to estimate, plan, and track progress for the preparation of discipline deliverables. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 2 years of relevant experience. OR a Master's degree in engineering/science discipline. ) Preferred Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA). OR Bachelor's degree in science. A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) is preferred for up to four years post-graduation, confirmed by transcript at the time of offer. Beyond four years from graduation, relevant experience will supersede GPA in hiring considerations. Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA. Master's degree with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA. PhD with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA. Within 12 months of the incumbent's hire date into this position, he/she must possess a current International Code Council (ICC) Certified Design Plan reviewer certificate or a current ICC Master Code Professional Certificate Proven experience in code compliance and interpreting national codes, standards, and regulations. Ability to maintain awareness of the latest codes, standards, and regulations governing fire protection and life safety. Ability to evaluate and provide feedback on design plans, permits, design drawings, diagrams, and requirements. Take ownership of tasks and contributions to deliverables, actively working towards project milestones and programmatic objectives. Effective written and oral communication skills. Technology & Tools Oversight Knowledge of PTC Windchill application Knowledge of project control tools (Primavera P6, Kahua, and SAP). #
