Sr. Controls Engineer

Designing and building infrastructure, at record speed, is key to enabling us to scale worldwide. Tesla is looking for a qualified Senior Controls Engineer to join our factory infrastructure engineering team in Austin, TX. You will play a pivotal role in the design of complex manufacturing facilities. The role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion for driving multi-disciplinary projects, and an unparalleled ability to consistently perform at a high level. Application based sizing and selection of Instruments and control devices required to operate and optimize complex mechanical and process system, including HVAC, chilled water, compressed air, etc. Initiate instrument datasheets, RFQ packages and perform technical bid evaluations to procure Controls devices Work with vendors and contractors to review designs and ensure that they meet Tesla quality and documentation standards Participate in development of scalable network architectures for plant wide high reliability control systems Work closely with HMI developers and programmers to optimize data exchange and enhance system usability Support the Construction team and Contractors to optimally execute scopes of work Generate construction drawings including 2D and 3D content to accurately define the installation scope of work Degree in an Engineering field, or equivalent experience 8+ years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer, Applications Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems Ability to review mechanical, process and plumbing drawings to properly size and select flow, pressure and temperature sensors Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD Configuration of controls networks including, Ethernet/IP, Profinet and Serial Communication Knowledge of industrial process and manufacturing equipment, including safety system.
