QBS is focused on being the premier Integration Specialists of DFW and the surrounding areas. We will continue to work relentlessly to become the Building Automation standard, providing big-picture insights and solutions for companies of all sizes. We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of Building Automation Systems (BAS). This role is well-suited for a technically strong professional who enjoys working across all phases of a project, from initial system design to client handoff. You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design and Engineering Design BAS solutions Develop control drawings, system architecture, and sequences of operation Create points lists and equipment schedules Review mechanical and electrical documentation to ensure accurate system integration Select appropriate field devices, controllers, and network components Programming and System Development Program controllers Build system logic, graphics, alarms, and user interfaces Utilize EC-GFX tools and Niagara N4 for system configuration and integration Configure communication protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus, and EC-Net Project Support and Coordination Work closely with project managers, contractors, and end users Maintain organized documentation and version control for all system files Provide support during system turnover, including client training
Work Hours:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekends as required
Compensation:
$35 - $55 per hour, depending on experience

100% of the medical insurance for the employee and their families paid (low deductible PPO) 401k program with 4% company match 7 paid holidays 2 weeks of vacation from the start Company take-home vehicle Gas card Company phone and laptop Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in BAS or HVAC controls engineering Experience with DDC, PLC, or similar Ladder-Logic programming Familiarity with Niagara N4 and EC-Net environments Strong understanding of HVAC systems (e.g., VAV, AHU, chiller, boiler, VRF systems) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus communication protocols Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities Experience with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Visio Preferred Qualifications Distech Controls and/or Niagara certifications Understanding of network infrastructure (IP addressing, switches, VLANs) Familiarity with energy optimization strategies and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE) Experience integrating third-party systems into BAS environments
