Electrical Engineer - Embedded Systems Job Description This role focuses on supporting long-term aerospace test sustainment projects as an Embedded Systems Engineer. You will work on rehosting and developing code, integrating hardware and software in a lab environment, and contributing to cross-functional engineering teams delivering solutions for defense and aerospace test systems. Responsibilities Develop, modify, and maintain Test Program Set (TPS) code to support aerospace and defense test sustainment projects. Perform TPS rehosting activities by taking existing test specifications and implementing them on new or updated test platforms. Integrate hardware and software in a lab environment, performing hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and validation of embedded test systems. Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and other cross-functional team members to solve complex technical problems. Participate in all phases of multiple projects, including hardware definition, code development, and lab-based integration and verification. Use Microsoft Visual Studio and related tools to develop and maintain C# and other software components for test systems. Execute and interpret tests using LabVIEW and TestStand frameworks, ensuring accurate implementation of test procedures. Analyze test results, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and performance. Support multiple concurrent projects, including shorter-term efforts and multi-year programs, by managing priorities and meeting project milestones. Document designs, test procedures, and test results clearly and accurately to support ongoing sustainment and future updates. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience with electrical engineering principles applied to test systems and embedded hardware. Hands-on experience integrating hardware and software in a lab environment, including troubleshooting and problem solving. Proficiency with C# programming and Microsoft Visual Studio for developing and maintaining test and embedded software. Experience working with LabVIEW and TestStand, including the ability to read, understand, and execute existing test frameworks. Familiarity with test program set (TPS) development or sustainment for aerospace or defense applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex technical issues in a structured way. Ability to obtain a security clearance, as required for defense-related projects. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is preferred, though closely related technical degrees may be considered. Experience with embedded systems engineering, including basic hardware design and software development. aerospace or defense test environments, particularly supporting long-duration programs. Exposure to TPS rehosting, including adapting existing test specifications to new platforms. Ability to work effectively in a small, cross-functional team where responsibilities may span hardware, software, and test. Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting test procedures and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
