$145k - $155k; exempt Summary We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical authority for electrical and electronic systems across a growing Aerial Work Platform (AWP) product portfolio. This individual will lead the definition, design, integration, and validation of machine-level electrical architecture. Based in San Antonio, this role is instrumental in building and scaling North American engineering capabilities within a newly established engineering center. The position collaborates closely with global teams to support product development and organizational growth in North America. Key Responsibilities Electrical Engineering Leadership Lead the design and development of electrical systems for boom and scissor lift platforms Define electrical architecture, including power distribution, control modules, CAN networks, sensors, and human-machine interfaces (HMI) Specify, select, and validate electrical components such as controllers, relays, switches, sensors, wiring harnesses, batteries, and protection devices Ensure seamless integration with hydraulic, structural, powertrain, and software systems Technical Execution & Compliance Ensure compliance with ANSI, CSA, CE, ISO, and other relevant global standards Develop wiring schematics, harness drawings, system layouts, and documentation Conduct DFMEA, safety analyses, and fault-handling strategy development Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system issues Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with software, vehicle integration, hydraulic, and powertrain teams to ensure system compatibility Support New Product Introduction (NPI) throughout concept, design, and validation phases Collaborate with current product engineering to resolve field issues Work with manufacturing teams to optimize harness routing, assembly, and serviceability Prototyping, Build Support & Validation Support prototype builds, ensuring proper installation and system functionality Develop and execute validation plans, including functional, safety, EMC, and communication testing Analyze test results and drive continuous improvements Support system calibration, configuration, and commissioning activities Technical Mentorship & Influence Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for electrical systems Mentor junior engineers on electrical architecture, diagnostics, and integration best practices Contribute to design standards, component strategies, and engineering processes Lead technical discussions and design reviews Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in AWP or off-highway/mobile equipment Strong experience in wiring harness design, schematics, and system integration Deep understanding of low/high voltage systems, CANbus, sensors, controllers, and safety circuits Knowledge of ANSI, CSA, CE, ISO, and other applicable standards Proven problem-solving and analytical skills Experience working in cross-functional, global engineering environments Hands-on experience with prototype builds, commissioning, and system validation Understanding of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes Preferred Qualifications Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter Professional Engineer (PE) certification Experience developing electrical systems for complex mobile machinery Core Competencies Strong engineering judgment and decision-making System-level thinking and troubleshooting expertise Effective cross-functional communication Leadership in design reviews and technical discussions Continuous improvement mindset Work Environment Combination of office, lab, and manufacturing environments Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and shop conditions Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
