Job Description

Overview The Instrument and Controls Engineer is responsible for managing and executing workflows across multiple assets to develop and deliver key electrical and automation documentation, including Cause and Effect diagrams, Single Line Drawings, Powerline Mapping, and Power Relay Settings.

This role serves as the central coordination point for cross-functional teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables, adherence to standards, and alignment with operational and engineering requirements. In the Permian Basin, the position also functions as a program controller, overseeing progress tracking, reporting, and coordination with existing IC&E teams. Responsibilities Oversee the end-to-end workflow to ensure successful and timely completion of deliverables Collaborate with operations, automation teams, electricians, engineering contractors, and asset teams to progress work and resolve issues Identify, troubleshoot, and address workflow challenges and bottlenecks Provide monthly cost tracking, forecasts, and site-level unit cost analysis Deliver monthly schedule updates and forward-looking projections Prepare detailed progress reports, including site and deliverable status Maintain progress ahead of mechanical workflows to ensure Cause and Effect documentation is available Align with mechanical activities to support development of Single Line Drawings and Powerline Mapping Review and approve Conditions of Satisfaction (CoS) before advancing workflow stages to ensure quality and standards compliance Coordinate corrective actions and drive continuous improvement based on review outcomes Compile and validate all required inputs and information prior to workflow initiation (Site Pack development) Coordinate contractor access to sites, including permitting with operations teams Direct contractor schedules, work assignments, and expected deliverables Monitor contractor performance and ensure deliverable quality meets standards Steward and approve contractor-related costs Establish and maintain strong working relationships with engineering and operations teams Serve as the primary point of contact for issue resolution, coordination, and communication Ensure integration of deliverables into Management of Change and documentation systems Qualifications Strong understanding of instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems Experience with technical documentation such as Cause & Effect diagrams and electrical drawings Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage contractor performance Strong analytical skills in cost tracking, scheduling, and reporting Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Familiarity with documentation control and change management standard Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements, including background, drug, hair follicle, MVR, agility, and fit for duty requirements.
