They will have supervisory responsibility within the company's Vehicles Group. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will use their understanding of products, technology, materials, and manufacturing methods to improve the design and usability of products by utilizing engineering principles. The individual will also be involved in writing and implementing engineering processes, as well as project management. Duties and Essential Job Functions Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of electronic and electrical components, installed Writes and implements basic engineering processes, operating procedures, and assembly procedures Perform project management reporting tasks. Completes documentation including, but not limited to, Engineering Change Notices, Deviations Waivers, NPR's Meets with internal clients to establish the design briefs: including the concept, and performance Meets with external clients to better understand requirements and develop technical solutions Works as a team on developing ideas and designs concepts using the Autodesk Inventor Software Identifies the suitability and availability of materials Produces detailed specifications using computer software's to produce specifications, including BOMs Applies knowledge of electrical engineering principles to design electrical/electronic systems that include control junction boxes, power distribution & supplies, display, batteries, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, wiring & harnesses, connectors, switches, lights, lamps, solenoids, actuators, sensors, solid state devices, engine packages, engine control interfacing & control, vehicle driving/parking lights/lamps wiring/harnesses, programmable logic control design & programming, etc. Must be able to produce a full manufacturing specification package including engineering BOMs Provides technical support in various cross functional applications including electronic packaging, remote power transmission and general system integration applications Tests the designs concept by computerized modelling or physical hands-on testing of models in the field Arranges meetings and liaisons with engineers and other stakeholders to discuss design concepts Occasionally travels to production facilities Presents to senior design management or clients, either when bidding for a contract or to present design proposals. Participates in specialist or multidisciplinary team meetings. Works in accordance with all legislation and company policy requirements pertaining to employee safety, health and wellness Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree- Electrical Engineering Computer Assisted Design Experience (Electrical Schematics & Control Junction Box Layouts) 5 years of work experience in Electronic/Electrical Engineering with significant field experience 2+ years of Vehicle Electrical Design experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient in using 3-D modeling tools (AutoCAD Inventor preferred) Must have fundamental understanding of NEC (National Electric Code) design rules Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Strong Documentation skills (Word) and Skilled in 2D schematic generation (AutoCAD) Demonstrates professional communication, problem solving and self-management skills Strong electrical/electronic aptitude, pays close attention to details and strong academic skills Must possess interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal personnel at all levels Ability to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a limited range of complex problems requiring the regular use of ingenuity and innovation Demonstrated ability to meet schedule and cost goals Previous supervisory experience would be considered an asset Ability to work well individually and as part of a team Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written Must be self-motivated, analytical, thorough, and must be able to work in a self-supervisory capacity and independently solve technical problems Work Environment Work is primarily in an indoor, well lit office or warehouse environment Some work to be completed in the manufacturing area; with some requirement for Personal Protective Equipment Some testing will be conducted at an external test facility.
