Summary:
The Electrical Field Engineer provides on-site technical support, troubleshooting, and oversight of electrical system installations on industrial construction projects. This position serves as a critical link between engineering design and field execution, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The Electrical Field Engineer collaborates closely with project managers, field supervisors, engineering teams, and document control personnel to coordinate construction activities, maintain accurate project documentation, support cost control initiatives, resolve field issues, and facilitate the successful completion and turnover of electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
Build comprehensive work packages using drawings sourced from the document control system Perform detailed take-offs of drawings to identify and procure required materials Transmit drawings and submittals through the document control system in accordance with project protocols Create red lines and as-built drawings to accurately reflect field conditions and support ongoing construction Track and monitor project costs across phase codes within the cost control system Write and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve field questions and support construction progress Prepare, issue, and manage change orders to document scope changes and maintain budget integrity Build termination packages using electrical schematics and cable schedules Provide technical support to field crews during installation, termination, and testing phases Coordinate with construction supervisors to ensure work aligns with engineering specifications and project requirements
Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in an industrial construction environment Experience with electrical turnover processes, including system completion and commissioning support Familiarity with document control systems and drawing management workflows Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules Experience performing material take-offs from engineering drawings Working knowledge of cost control systems and phase code tracking Strong written communication skills for preparing RFIs and change orders Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced field environment Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
