Job Description
Industrial Technology Instructor (Electrical Systems & PLCs) Wenatchee Valley College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach in the Industrial Technology program with a focus on electrical systems, industrial controls, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). This program prepares students for careers in electrical maintenance, automation, manufacturing, and related industrial settings. We are looking for an enthusiastic instructor with professional expertise who can provide high-quality instruction and hands-on learning opportunities to students pursuing technical careers in this dynamic and high-demand field. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities Develop and deliver course content including syllabi, presentations, labs, and lessons in alignment with program and college standards. Provide instruction that integrates theory with applied, hands-on learning in electrical systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation. Teach students safe and effective practices for troubleshooting, maintenance, and system integration. Evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, and assign grades in accordance with college policies. Maintain accurate class and program records as required. Foster a supportive learning environment that emphasizes professionalism, safety, teamwork, and inclusivity. Collaborate with program faculty, advisory committees, and industry partners to ensure curriculum reflects current industry practices and technologies. Maintain office hours and provide support to students outside of scheduled class times. Minimum Qualifications An Associates Degree and/ or "journey level" status in a trade At least five years of professional experience in industrial technology, electrical systems, automation, or related fields. Demonstrated technical expertise in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or design of electrical or control systems. Preferred Qualifications Teaching or training experience in a college, apprenticeship, or industry setting. Industry-recognized certifications in electrical, controls, automation, or related technical areas. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, industrial wiring, and instrumentation. Familiarity with instructional technology and/or Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas). Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
