Job Description
Position Summary The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, programming, and commissioning of industrial control systems for the company's centrifuge and separation equipment. This role supports new product development and custom engineered solutions by creating reliable, safe, and efficient PLC- and HMI-based control systems used in wastewater, industrial, and process applications. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and program PLC- and HMI-based control systems for centrifuge and related process equipment Create and maintain electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams Develop control logic, sequencing, alarm strategies, and operator interfaces Support system integration of motors, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and safety devices Test and troubleshoot control systems both in-house and in the field Support commissioning, startup, and field service activities as needed Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project engineers to deliver complete system solutions Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and customer specifications Provide technical documentation, including I/O lists, programs, manuals, and test procedures Assist with continuous improvement, standardization, and optimization of control systems Provide technical support to manufacturing, service, and sales teams as required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering Hands-on experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) Experience with HMI development and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.) Familiarity with VFDs, motor control, instrumentation, and industrial control panels Ability to read and create electrical schematics and technical documentation Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Willingness to travel occasionally for field startup and support Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
