Job Description
Job Summary The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, programming, and maintenance of industrial control systems used in manufacturing and production environments. This role partners closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and vendors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient automated systems that meet production, quality, and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Design, program, and commission control systems for automated equipment and manufacturing processes Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Omron) Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, instrumentation, and controls issues to minimize downtime Support new equipment installations and production line upgrades Create and maintain control system documentation, including electrical schematics, I/O lists, and network diagrams Collaborate with mechanical engineers, electricians, integrators, and suppliers during system design and implementation Ensure compliance with safety standards, machine guarding requirements, and applicable regulations Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives Provide on‑site support during equipment start‑ups and production launches Train maintenance and operations personnel on control systems and best practices Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field 3+ years of experience working with industrial automation and control systems Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting Working knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.) Strong understanding of electrical control panels, instrumentation, and industrial safety systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
