Job Description

. About the Role We are seeking a Senior Manager, EHS Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of electrical health, safety, and environmental (EHS) standards across Nscale's global data centre infrastructure and deployment operations. You'll be hands-on, execution-focused, and comfortable working in a complex environment spanning hyperscale GPU clusters, critical infrastructure, and multi-jurisdictional compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, ISO 22237, IEC 61936, NFPA 70E, and local electrical codes). This role will directly support operational safety maturity, incident prevention, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across all Nscale sites and systems. This role requires a deep technical understanding of electrical systems in high-performance computing environments and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable safety protocols. The candidate shall be able to work in a dynamic, high-intensity environment and support the DC team achieving project deliverables What You'll be Doing (Responsibilities) Electrical Safety & Compliance Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical safety policies, procedures, and standards aligned with
NFPA 70E, IEC 61936, ISO
22237, and local electrical codes across all jurisdictions. Support ongoing compliance with electrical safety regulations, including arc flash hazard analysis, electrical equipment maintenance, and safe work practices. Conduct electrical safety audits and assessments across data centres, deployment sites, and infrastructure facilities. Maintain electrical safety documentation, hazard registers, and control evidence for internal and external audits. Support third-party electrical inspections and certifications, ensuring alignment with design standards and operational requirements. Technical Leadership & Design Review Act as the primary electrical SME for infrastructure projects, providing input on electrical system design, BOM specifications, and deployment architecture. Review electrical designs, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance. Partner with the internal EHS team as well as stakeholders to ensure strategy is communicated effectively. Collaborate with Network Engineering, Operational Engineering, and Deployment teams to ensure electrical systems meet performance and safety requirements. Provide technical guidance on power distribution, grounding, surge protection, and redundancy in GPU-intensive environments. Support the development of electrical reference architectures and best practices for rapid, safe deployment. Operational Safety & Risk Management Oversee electrical hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies across all operational sites. Develop and maintain electrical safety training programs for technicians, engineers, and operational staff. Support incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action for electrical safety events. Establish and track electrical safety KPIs/KRIs (e.g., near-miss reporting, hazard closure rates, training compliance). Maintain electrical equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and testing records (e.g., PAT testing, thermography). Enforcement of contractor EHS requirements during project planning, and execution phases. Escalate unacceptable risk or performance that exceeds NSCALE's tolerance Governance, Risk & Compliance Partner and ensure safety controls for high-risk construction work including: High-voltage electrical installation and commissioning Energized work and arc flash risk Support the development and maintenance of electrical safety management systems (ESMS) aligned with ISO standards. Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, electrical inspectors, and certification authorities. Prepare electrical safety documentation for board reporting, audit readiness, and stakeholder communication. Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual compliance and reporting overhead. Track and report on control effectiveness, audit findings, and remediation progress to senior leadership. Assurance, Audits & Compliance Conduct electrical safety audits, inspections, across area of accountability Ensure consistent application of regulatory standards across all sites Execute data driven action plans for sites, develop focus plans for improvement when necessary, work with external partners to implement action items and track to closure. Build a consistent process for field audits, identify systemic gaps and escalate. Incident & Crisis Management Lead or support investigations into electrical incidents, near misses, and potentially severe events involving contractors. Ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented by responsible parties. Share lessons learned across project teams and contractor organizations to prevent recurrence. Participate in construction emergency response coordination and crisis management from a workforce safety perspective Awareness & Culture Develop clear communications and training materials to reinforce electrical safety accountability across teams. Lead electrical safety awareness campaigns and toolbox talks. Foster a safety-first culture where all employees understand electrical hazards and safe work practices. Support employee advocacy and near-miss reporting programs. Decision Rights Escalate or halt construction activities presenting unacceptable risk Influence construction sequencing, resourcing, and schedule decisions based on safety risk About You (Skills / Qualifications) Required Qualifications 10+ years in electrical safety management, electrical engineering, or HSE leadership within data center, critical infrastructure, or high-performance computing environments. Deep familiarity with electrical safety standards:
NFPA 70E, IEC 61936, ISO
22237, and local electrical codes across multiple jurisdictions. Proven experience leading electrical safety programs audits, and compliance initiatives in regulated or high-risk environments. Strong understanding of electrical hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. Experience with electrical system design, power distribution, grounding, and equipment specifications in data centre or HPC environments. Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Hands-on with electrical safety tools and GRC platforms. Technical Knowledge Knowledge of GPU/HPC electrical infrastructure, power delivery systems, and cooling integration. (Preferred) NFPA 70E, arc flash, and high-voltage electrical construction safety Familiarity with electrical design standards for data centers. Understanding of arc flash hazard analysis, electrical equipment maintenance, and safe work practices. Knowledge of power quality, redundancy, and resilience in mission-critical environments. Familiarity with electrical testing and inspection methodologies (thermography, PAT testing, insulation resistance).
