Birmingham, AL Job Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Leader to manage and guide multidisciplinary engineering and design teams on complex, heavy industrial projects. This role is ideal for a licensed Electrical Engineer (PE preferred) or a highly experienced Senior Designer with 15-20 years of relevant experience. The candidate will play a critical role in delivering high-quality electrical designs, coordinating across disciplines, and ensuring successful project execution from concept through completion.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage teams of electrical engineers and designers on large-scale industrial projects Develop technical scopes of work and detailed electrical equipment specifications Design and review key electrical deliverables, including: single-line diagrams, motor elementary diagrams, interconnection diagrams, power distribution plans, cable schedules, lighting and grounding plans Direct and oversee the production of design deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals Perform FEL (Front-End Loading) estimates (FEL 1, 2, and 3) Collaborate with other discipline leads and clients to resolve technical challenges and drive project solutions Conduct site walk-downs to gather field data and verify design conditions Participate in client meetings, bid walk-downs, and project reviews

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

OR 15-20

years of relevant experience as a Senior Electrical Designer Proven experience leading teams on complex, multi-discipline industrial projects Strong knowledge of electrical design standards, codes, and best practices Excellent communication and coordination skills Ability to work both in-office and in field environments

Preferred Experience:

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required Heavy industrial project experience (e.g., manufacturing, chemical, energy, or similar sectors) Experience with project estimation and front-end engineering design (FEL phases) Demonstrated ability to interface directly with clients and stakeholders
