General Responsibility:
The HVAC Design & Materials Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful execution of single-family residential HVAC projects through system design coordination, material planning and project collaboration. This position bridges the gap between engineering/design, field operations, purchasing, and project management to ensure projects are accurately designed, properly supplied, and completed on schedule. This role requires strong technical HVAC knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced new construction environment.
Significant Duties:
Review residential plans, specifications, and builder requirements. Perform HVAC system layouts and design coordination for single-family homes. Perform HVAC load calculations and equipment selections using Wrightsoft software for Manual J, D &S. Coordinate duct layouts, equipment placement, and system design standards. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, energy requirements, and company standards. Collaborate with field teams to resolve design-related issues. Maintain design revisions and project documentation. Generate accurate material takeoffs based on approved plans and HVAC designs. Coordinate material orders with purchasing. Track job starts lead times and delivery schedules to support production timelines. Verify material accuracy and quantities prior to job release. Help identify cost-saving opportunities and standardization improvements. Coordinate with sales, superintendents, purchasing, and field leadership. Support production schedules by ensuring design and material readiness. Assist with resolving field discrepancies, RFI's to engineers, and plan revisions. Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation. Participate in internal project meetings and builder coordination as needed. Monitor workflow to help improve operational efficiency and communication between departments. Ensure all designs and materials align with company quality standards. Support adherence to safety policies and construction best practices. Assist in maintaining compliance with local mechanical codes and builder requirements. Monitor progress of each job to ensure compliance with code and constructability adhering to contract documents and 2020 standard. Update and maintain design schedule in accordance of job start information. Maintain and update HVAC, California Energy Standard, Building or other construction related code changes that may affect the HVAC design and installation constructability. Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the highest standard for quality workmanship. Believes in and champions 20/20's core values and inspires others to do the same. Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma, continued/ongoing education and training related to design and code functions. Experience will compensate for education Five (5) plus years of designing and/or detailing HVAC shop drawings. Equivalent field experience suffices. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential HVAC construction coordination, design, or material management preferred. Experience in single-family new construction strongly preferred. Three (3+) years of Wrightsoft and AutoCAD design software experience preferred. REVIT design software experience preferred. Proficiency in using various computer software, including ability to use the Windows operating system as well as common office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Procore, AutoCad and Wrightsoft Knowledge of California Title 24 HVAC Code and related California Building Codes. Strong understanding of residential HVAC systems and construction practices. Ability to read blueprints, mechanical plans, and specifications. Knowledge of HVAC design principles and material applications. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal must be able to read, write and speak fluent English. Excellent problem-solving skills and must be able to use critical thinking to effectively solve issues. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities. Must have the ability to be flexible, decisive, and work effectively under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods. Occasional jobsite visits may be required.
