Job Description

UDC is seeking a full-time Software Configurator to join our GIS Services Practice. In this role, you will configure and implement CAD-based electric and gas network design platform for our utility clients. You will translate client business requirements into functional utility design platform configurations that enforce design standards, automate workflows, and integrate with GIS and enterprise asset management systems. If you are detail-oriented, enjoy working directly with clients, and are eager to develop deep expertise in utility design technology, this role offers a strong foundation in a growing and specialized field. Travel requirements may vary by project, typically ranging from 10% to 25% based on client and business needs. What you will do Configure utility design platform solutions based on client requirements, including asset models, design styles, annotations, materials, and business rules — ensuring design standards are applied consistently and accurately Participate in requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, and client meetings; capture and document requirements with enough clarity for business stakeholders and testers to act on independently Maintain and update requirements documentation throughout the project lifecycle, keeping it synchronized with configuration changes in the design platform Perform out-of-the-box (OOTB) validation and analysis, helping clients understand the design platform's native capabilities and setting clear expectations where requested customizations may conflict with core platform functionality or hinder standard utility design platform workflows. Build and maintain configuration templates and commit changes using version control Participate in training sessions with clients and the project team to walk through the system, clarify requirements, and identify key test cases for SIT and UAT. Support project deliveries across client environments and assist in identifying and resolving issues as they arise Participate in defect testing and tracking; log clear, repeatable bug reports and resolve assigned issues promptly Communicate professionally with client points of contact, including following up on open or pending items via email and video conference What we look for from you Basic understanding of expressive language coding logic, including conditional statements and general logic flow Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with structured documentation Strong written and verbal communication skills across email, phone, and video conferencing Excellent attention to detail with strong record-keeping and organizational habits Ability to manage time effectively across multiple concurrent project tasks Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients Adaptability and willingness to flex schedules when needed — utility design platform implementations span global clients, and meetings may occasionally fall outside standard business hours Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with AutoCAD or utility design software built on the AutoCAD platform Knowledge of electric or gas utility design workflows and business processes Basic knowledge of SQL and XML Experience with SVN or similar version control systems AutoCAD block editing experience
