We are seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to support and enhance the automation and control systems that drive our production operations.
Position Summary:
The PLC Programmer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated control systems across the facility. This hands-on role focuses on PLC programming, electrical controls, and system optimization to ensure reliable and efficient production. The position also supports broader maintenance efforts involving mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC systems to support production equipment and process improvements. Diagnose and resolve electrical, control, and automation issues quickly to minimize downtime. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on: Heat-treating equipment Electrical controls and distribution systems HVAC and ventilation systems Conveyor systems and material handling equipment Overhead cranes and fork trucks Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Building infrastructure and physical grounds Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and technical manuals. Support integration of new equipment, automation upgrades, and system modifications. Utilize CAD and/or SolidWorks to document electrical layouts and support system improvements. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to optimize equipment performance. Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and operational standards. Maintain accurate records in the maintenance tracking system, including work orders and inventory.
Projects:
Implement and enhance a Preventive Maintenance Program Develop and manage a spare parts program for control systems Support plant-wide safety initiatives in collaboration with management and HR Identify and execute automation improvements to increase efficiency and reliability
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred 3+ years of experience in PLC programming within an industrial environment Strong proficiency in: PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) Electrical diagnostics and control systems Reading schematics and control drawings Hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems Experience with CAD and/or SolidWorks Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on technical ability Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and using required
PPE Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a foundry, metal casting, or heat-treating environment Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Electrical or HVAC licensing a plus Experience with automation upgrades and system integration
