Job Description The Engineering Designer II (ED II) is the intermediate level within the engineering design career track, with progression based on performance and time in role. This position is responsible for developing design solutions for electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground circuits supporting joint use, street lighting, and commercial, industrial, and residential developments. The ED II applies technical expertise and accurate field data collection to produce detailed and reliable design deliverables. This role utilizes established design specifications, standards, and software tools to create construction-ready documents, while also supporting more complex projects with increasing independence. In addition, the Engineering Designer II collaborates regularly with clients, customers, and construction personnel to facilitate project progression and resolve design-related issues. The role may also support storm restoration efforts as needed. This position is primarily office-based but includes a significant amount of fieldwork. Field responsibilities may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, high humidity, rain, snow, and ice. Work in the field may also involve potential exposure to insects, wildlife, and dense vegetation.
