This role is different. You'll still be creating and updating E&I design packages, but you'll also get out into one of the Midwest's largest refineries, walk equipment, verify field conditions, solve real-world installation challenges, and see your designs become reality. If you've worked in refining, chemical processing, or heavy industrial facilities, you already know how valuable that experience is If you're tired of bouncing from project to project, this assignment is scheduled through December 2028, providing the stability to build deep facility knowledge, develop lasting relationships, and make a meaningful impact on one of the Midwest's largest refineries. What you'll be doing: Create and update Instrument Loop Drawings, terminal cabinet drawings, DCS hardware drawings, and instrument location plans Develop electrical one-lines, motor schematics, power plans, grounding plans, lighting plans, and panel schedules Produce conduit and cable schedules, electric trace isometrics, and area classification drawings Modify P&IDs and support refinery capital and maintenance projects Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and gather measurements for design packages Work closely with engineers to convert field sketches into complete AutoCAD drawings Support document control and drawing management activities within the refinery What you'll get: Long-term assignment scheduled through December 2028 $55/hour pay rate $100/day per diem for qualifying travelers Mileage reimbursement for mobilization and demobilization Consistent Monday-Friday schedule (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Exposure to complex refinery systems and multidisciplinary industrial projects Opportunity to work on-site and see the impact of your designs firsthand Who you are: You're the type of designer who likes getting out from behind the screen occasionally. You understand that great drawings start with understanding the field. You have experience in refineries or heavy industrial facilities, can confidently build electrical and instrumentation diagrams, understand one-lines, cabinetry layouts, conduit routing, and are comfortable working in AutoCAD. Experience supporting refinery E&I projects—and especially familiarity with the Lemont refinery environment—is highly valued. This position is based primarily in the Downers Grove, IL office with periodic visits to the refinery in Lemont for field verification and design support.
