Job Description

At Fives, we all play a role in advancing industry and shaping the future of manufacturing. As an Electrical Designer, you will be a key contributor in designing, integrating, and supporting industrial automation systems from concept through commissioning.
What you'll do: Design and integrate electrical systems for industrial automation projects
Develop clear, well-organized electrical schematics using AutoCAD
Lay out power cabinets, select electrical components, and size conductors for feeder and branch circuits
Apply sound electrical design practices in compliance with NEC codes and regulations
Create and maintain organized project documentation, including drawing templates, title blocks, drawing lists, and bills of material
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, purchasing, electricians, and assembly technicians to optimize system design and performance
Partner with engineering leadership and finance to develop project schedules and support bid proposals
Develop Supplier Scope of Work (SSOW) documents for electrical contractors when required
Provide project leadership and coordination as needed
Interface directly with customers during commissioning, acceptance testing, system delivery, and post-installation support What we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in Engineering
1-3 years of engineering experience preferred
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus
Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, Ethernet networks, PLCs, and HMI programming
Experience with 480 VAC, 120 VAC, three-phase, and 24 VDC power distribution systems
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate issues and propose effective solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
A proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and grow
