Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities The BIM Sheet Metal Detailer is responsible for the standardization and production of all Virtual Design Coordination (VDC) documents related to HVAC sheet metal and ductwork systems to support the design, fabrication, and construction operations of the Company. This critical role seeks to utilize the highest levels of technology, construction knowledge, and company standards to produce high quality 2D and 3D construction documents that increase efficiency and reduce cost. Job Responsibilities Prepare detailed 2D and 3D construction documents that aid in fabrication and field installation of HVAC duct and sheet metal systems. Create and maintain coordinated Revit models for HVAC sheet metal systems in accordance with contract documents and BIM Execution Plans. Produce spool drawings, shop-ready details, hanger layouts, and installation documentation. Coordinate construction documents through communication with Project Managers, BIM staff, and other project team members. Ensure that the project drafting and BIM needs are met in a timely and effective manner. Serve as liaison between the design team and project subcontractors regarding project-specific BIM processes and model usage. Ensure BIM and drafting meets or exceeds expectations stated in the project BIM Execution Plan and job specifications. Update BIM models per changes to contract documents, RFIs, ASIs, and field conditions. Provide BIM deliverables as required by the project schedule. Assist in development of project documentation including BIM Execution Plans, schedules, and meeting minutes. Monitor information exchange between subcontractors and third-party modeling consultants. Participate in and support trade coordination meetings and follow up on assigned deliverables. Understand and execute the sheet metal BIM scope of work for assigned projects. Facilitate the trade coordination process in a manner that supports the overall project schedule. Perform quality reviews of submitted models as they relate to contract documents. Administer proper sign-off standards to facilitate fabrication and construction. Coordinate and prepare record (as-built) models and drawings. Assist in the production of presentation materials as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Revit for BIM modeling and detailing of HVAC sheet metal systems. Proficient in AutoCAD preferred. Knowledge of BIM coordination software such as Navisworks Manage. Knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Knowledge of Bluebeam preferred. Proficient in electronic document exchange and file management. Ability to review and understand contract drawings and specifications. Able to work well in a fast-paced environment. General knowledge of the construction process. General to specific knowledge of HVAC ductwork systems, fittings, and accessories. Understanding of trade coordination between HVAC, piping, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems. Physical Requirements This job requires the ability to work at a desk with computer equipment for prolonged periods of time. Eye-hand coordination and sustained focus are essential.
