Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Designer Job Description The Electrical Designer revises cab and chassis wire harness designs to meet customer specifications and change requests. This role focuses on converting existing 3D designs into accurate 2D prints using AutoCAD, ensuring high levels of precision and on-time delivery. The position is primarily desk-based within an engineering environment, with regular collaboration with the shop floor to verify fit, function, and manufacturability of electrical designs. 4 day work week Monday-Thursday, 6:00 PM

5x regular pay) Responsibilities Revise released wire harness designs so they align with customer specifications and change requests. Convert existing 3D wire harness designs into detailed and accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings. Create and update wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drafting documentation for cab and chassis applications. Ensure all electrical designs meet project timelines, quality standards, and internal engineering change order requirements. Collaborate closely with the shop floor to validate fit, routing, and function of wire harnesses and related electrical components. Troubleshoot design issues identified during build or testing and implement effective design updates. Coordinate with other design and electrical engineers to ensure consistency and integration across related systems. Maintain organized design files and documentation to support traceability and future engineering changes. Essential Skills Hands-on electrical design experience with wire harnesses for products such as vehicles, machinery, or equipment. Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical design work, specifically for products rather than buildings, utilities, or facilities. Experience with wire harness design, including routing, connector selection, and harness documentation. Ability to create and interpret 2D drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics. Familiarity with electrical drafting practices and standards. Experience working with engineering change orders and revising released designs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy and on-time delivery. Ability to collaborate effectively with both engineering peers and shop floor personnel. Solid understanding of general electrical principles relevant to harness and component design. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience designing electrical components or systems in SolidWorks. Background in electrical design using any 2D design software for product applications. Experience working on cab and chassis or other heavy vehicle electrical systems. Ability to work independently while also contributing to a multi-engineer project team. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design and fitment issues. Willingness to learn from functional leads and mentors and adapt to established design standards and processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00
