This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Design:
Perform basic calculations for sizing and specifying field equipment such as motors, valves, cameras, lasers, etc. based on quality and production metrics
Automation and Controls:
Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control devices. Troubleshoot and adjust PLC and HMI programs; assist with hardware and process issues.
Testing:
Write detailed test plans and carry out testing and validating based on design specifications without compromising on safety
Documentation:
Document each step of the design process following Dragonfly's standard engineering workflow.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define system specifications as well as engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate new control features and optimize system performance.
- Electrical design: Update electrical drawings as needed for each improvement to existing equipment or draw new schematics for prototyping new equipment Required Skills and Abilities The following skills and abilities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in automation engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or related STEM field.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming.
- The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Dedication to delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills and Abilities The following skills and abilities are preferred to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
- Python programming experience.
- Experience with SQL database management using custom SQL/Python scripts.
- Experience with Schneider Electric Machine Expert and other Schneider Electric automation tools.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with manufacturing environments.
- Experience programming and integrating camera-based vision systems.
- Experience with project management software (ex. Jira, Monday.com, Workday, etc.). Physical Requirements and Work Environment The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
