ELECTRICAL COMMISSIONING TECHNICIAN

Retirement Plan Electrical Commissioning Technician Responsibilities:
Perform field inspections to ensure electrical installations meet project specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards. Oversee the installation and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure, including medium-voltage equipment, switchgear, switchboards, grounding and bonding systems, bus duct systems, UPS units, PDIs/RPPs, generators, ATS/STS equipment, battery systems, and
EPMS/BMS
integrations. Record, track, and follow up on deficiencies, punch list items, and corrective actions through completion. Support and coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities. Partner with site safety personnel to identify, communicate, and resolve potential hazards or compliance concerns. Create, review, and execute pre-functional inspections, startup procedures, and functional performance testing protocols. Conduct integrated systems testing and failure mode/effects testing to validate system operation and reliability. Maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, turnover packages, training documentation, and project logs. Generate routine commissioning progress updates and review operation & maintenance manuals, turnover documents, and as-built drawings for accuracy and completeness. Verify compliance with applicable
NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE
standards, project commissioning requirements, and local authority regulations. Participate in risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety planning related to energized testing and commissioning activities. Promote and enforce site safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices. Work effectively within active construction environments and around energized electrical systems. Maintain flexibility to support extended work hours, weekends, or critical-path testing schedules as required. Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development, continuous improvement, and learning opportunities. Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused attitude that contributes positively to team success. Exhibit reliability through consistent attendance, punctuality, and adherence to assigned schedules. Perform additional duties and support project assignments as directed by management. Electrical Commissioning Technician Experience, Background and Requirements Minimum of five years of experience supporting electrical commissioning, system startup, field engineering, or related technical operations. Previous experience in mission-critical facilities, hyperscale projects, or data center environments is highly desirable. Solid knowledge of electrical power generation, distribution, and control systems. Ability to review, interpret, and apply information from electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and control documentation. Understanding of commissioning methodologies, testing procedures, and recognized industry standards. Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple project teams and stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital commissioning/reporting platforms. Experience utilizing project management and construction software, including Procore and Autodesk products. Hands-on electrical construction, maintenance, or commissioning experience is preferred. Current
NFPA 70E
certification required. OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification required and must be valid within the last five years. #BASE1
