Job Description:
Job Summary The PLC Programmer/Controls Engineer Supervisor creates and manages programs for industrial computers and automated machinery (e.g., mixers, vats, conveyors, packaging machines). They specialize in ensuring dairy processes adhere to strict safety standards, such as pasteurization temperature control, while maximizing efficiency and reducing downtime.
Key Responsibilities PLC/HMI Programming:
Write, update, and test PLC code (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) for Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (Studio 5000/RSLogix) or Siemens (TIA Portal) platforms.
Process Control:
Program and monitor critical parameters, including temperature, pressure, and flow rates during pasteurization, sterilization, and CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) processes.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues on the production floor.
System Integration:
Integrate PLC systems with HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), SCADA systems, sensors, and actuators.
Compliance & Safety:
Enforce food safety regulations (GMPs, HACCP) and safety standards (OSHA, lockout/tagout) through robust programming.
Documentation:
Create comprehensive documentation for all programming, including wiring diagrams, I/O configurations, and backup management.
Project Management:
Assist in designing and installing new automated equipment and upgrading existing infrastructure.
Requirements & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or similar; or a technical diploma/vocational training with equivalent experience.
Experience:
3-5+ years of experience in PLC programming, preferably in a food, dairy, or beverage manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley (Logix5000) or Siemens platforms. Experience with
HMI/SCADA
systems (e.g., Wonderware, FactoryTalk View). Knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
Physical Ability:
Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (32-36 °F) and sometimes hot/wet cleaning conditions.

Strong troubleshooting abilities to minimize downtime. Attention to

Precision in coding to ensure product consistency.
Communication:
