Job Title:
BIM Designer Job Description The BIM Designer supports the full Building Information Modeling (BIM) process for complex commercial electrical construction projects, from internal team coordination through client-facing deliverables. This role develops and maintains accurate 3D models and 2D construction documents, collaborates closely with field and prefabrication teams, and ensures all deliverables meet project schedule, budget, and scope requirements. The BIM Designer plays a key role in design, planning, coordination, and installation activities, particularly within advanced facility and semiconductor projects. Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed BIM models for electrical projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget. Assign modeling and drafting tasks, including self-performing work when appropriate, and set priorities for 3D modeling and 2D drawing deliverables in accordance with Virtual Construction (VC) standards. Monitor progress and perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on all 3D models and 2D drawing outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Interpret project schedules, budgets, deliverable requirements, and field requests to plan and execute modeling and documentation tasks effectively. Work in close coordination with the prefabrication department to support prefabricated electrical components and assemblies. Maintain clear and consistent communication with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to support field installation and coordination. Use Revit to produce accurate, constructible shop drawings derived from 3D models for electrical systems. Follow established company standards for creating shop drawings from 3D model content, ensuring consistency and compliance with internal guidelines. Download and manage drawings and project information from online platforms such as SharePoint and project-specific websites. Prepare copies and assemble complete sets of documents for transmittal to clients, field teams, and other project partners. Collaborate effectively with Virtual Construction and Prefabrication team members to support coordinated, clash-free models and constructible documentation. Essential Skills Proficiency in Revit for electrical modeling and production of shop drawings. Experience with Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection. Hands-on experience with BIM tools and workflows, including BIM 360. Ability to interpret and produce construction documents and construction drawings for electrical systems. Experience with Revit MEP for modeling mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and documentation. Demonstrated experience in electrical drafting within commercial construction projects. Ability to manage and coordinate multiple BIM tasks while meeting schedule, budget, and scope requirements. Strong communication skills to work effectively with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, Virtual Construction teams, and Prefabrication departments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with advanced facility construction clients, particularly in the semiconductor or similarly complex industries. Familiarity with Virtual Construction (VC) standards and best practices. Experience supporting prefabrication workflows through accurate modeling and shop drawings.
