Job Description

About Us New Way Electric is a growing electrical contractor focused on delivering high-quality electrical construction, design-build, and coordination services. We work on commercial, industrial, and specialty projects and are looking for an Electrical Designer to join our Design Department. This position will support commercial, multifamily, and industrial electrical projects from concept through construction documentation. Position Summary The Electrical Designer will develop electrical construction documents and communicate with internal project teams, clients, engineers, architects, and field personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong Revit skills, a solid understanding of electrical systems, and practical experience applying NEC requirements to real-world design work. Key Responsibilities Develop electrical plans, schedules, details, and one-line diagrams using Revit. Design power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, low-voltage, and related electrical systems. Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and civil disciplines. Review project requirements, drawings, specifications, and field conditions. Perform basic electrical calculations, including load calculations, voltage drop, lighting levels, and panel schedules. Apply NEC requirements and applicable local codes to electrical designs. Assist project managers, supervisors, and field teams with design coordination and issue resolution. Prepare permit and construction drawing packages. Support design-build and value-engineering efforts. Maintain organized project files and design documentation. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical design. Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit and BIM-based electrical design is required. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) is required. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus. Strong understanding of electrical construction documents and electrical systems. Ability to coordinate with internal teams, clients, engineers, architects, and field personnel. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects or deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience Design-build electrical construction experience. Commercial, multifamily, industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, healthcare, or institutional. project experience. Experience preparing permit drawings and construction documents. Knowledge of electrical estimating or field installation practices. Experience with lighting design software or electrical calculation tools.
