Renewable Energy / Utilities / Energy Storage Position Summary We are looking for an Electrical Designer to support the rapid deployment of energy infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for creating comprehensive electrical design packages for utility-scale or commercial-scale energy projects. This role requires a high degree of proficiency in AutoCAD and a solid understanding of how energy systems (PV, BESS, or EV charging) integrate with the local utility grid.
Key Responsibilities System Design:
Develop full electrical drawing sets, including Site Plans, Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), Three-Line Diagrams, and Wiring Schematics for energy systems.
Interconnection Support:
Assist in preparing technical documentation for utility interconnection applications (e.g., PG&E Rule 21) and permit submittals.
Equipment Layout:
Design layouts for battery enclosures, inverters, transformers, and switchgear, ensuring proper clearances and cable routing.
Calculations:
Perform energy-specific calculations, including short-circuit analysis , arc flash studies , and voltage drop for long-distance DC/AC runs.
Compliance:
Ensure all designs align with the 2025 California Energy Code (Title 24) and the 2023/2026 NEC standards for renewable energy systems.
Required Qualifications AutoCAD Mastery:
3+ years of experience drafting complex electrical systems. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or Civil 3D is a major plus.
Energy Background:
Direct experience with Solar PV , Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) , or Microgrids .
Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with California-specific codes (Title 24, Part 6) and safety standards like UL 9540 (for batteries).
Project Delivery:
Proven ability to move a project from the "Initial Concept" to "Ready for Construction" (RFC) within tight 3-month windows.
Pay:
$91,978.33 - $140,769.60 per year
