TelecommunicationsOverviewA well-established, multi-discipline consulting and engineering firm is seeking a Technology Designer to join its growing technology systems team. This role supports the design and documentation of complex building technology systems across a wide range of project types, including healthcare, higher education, science & technology, workplace, and other large-scale facilities.
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals in an interdisciplinary environment while contributing to high-impact, technically challenging projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the guidance of a lead designer or project manager, assist with the design of complex technology systems, including:
Structured cabling systemsIndoor and outside-plant pathwaysElectronic security systemsAudio-visual systemsIntelligent building systemsNurse call systemsTelecommunications grounding and related systemsCoordinate and collaborate with:
MEP design teamsArchitectural partnersBuilding ownersConstruction managers and contractorsPrepare 2D and 3D construction documentation using Revit.
Assist in the development of Division 27 and 28 specifications.
Support contract administration activities, including:
Site visitsSubmittal reviewContractor coordination and supportStay current with emerging building and technology systems.
QualificationsEducation & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
RCDD certification preferred, or a demonstrated interest in pursuing RCDD.Experience1+ years of experience designing technology systems within the architectural/engineering industry.
Exposure to large or complex building projects preferred.
Technical SkillsProficiency in Revit.
Working knowledge of building technology systems.
Familiarity with BICSI standards and NFPA codes.
Ability to contribute to the design of complex technology infrastructure.
Strong technical foundation with a desire to grow into a senior-level designer role.
Experience across diverse building types (healthcare, higher education, science & technology, workplace, etc.).Professional & Interpersonal SkillsReliable, accountable, and receptive to feedback.
Able to follow direction and learn new technical concepts quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Supervisory ResponsibilityNo direct supervisory responsibilities.
May assist with mentoring interns or co-op students under supervision.
Work Environment & Physical RequirementsPrimarily office-based with occasional site visits.
Ability to comply with safety requirements and use personal protective equipment during site visits.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.
Site conditions may include uneven terrain, ladders, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
