Job Description
Position Summary The Electrical Estimating Instructor supports adult learners, career changers, and incumbent workers in gaining the technical skills needed for high‑demand roles in the electrical construction industry. This position delivers hands‑on training in electrical estimating with a strong emphasis on Trimble Estimating software. The instructor will help learners build job‑ready competencies, prepare for employment or advancement, and understand real‑world estimating workflows used by electrical contractors today. This role is ideal for an experienced estimator who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping individuals enter or advance within the skilled trades. Key Responsibilities Deliver accessible, engaging instruction in electrical estimating fundamentals, including takeoffs, labor units, cost buildup, bid summaries, and scope review. Course materials will be provided. Provide hands‑on training using Trimble Estimating software. Develop curriculum aligned with workforce development goals, employer needs, and industry standards. Support learners with varying backgrounds, new entrants, apprentices, and incumbent workers—ensuring instruction is clear, practical, and inclusive. Facilitate real‑world estimating exercises, mock bids, and project simulations to build job‑ready skills. Track learner progress, provide individualized coaching, and document outcomes for workforce reporting. Maintain current knowledge of electrical construction methods, NEC requirements, and market pricing trends. Contribute to continuous improvement of training programs and instructional materials. Required Qualifications 3-5+ years of hands‑on experience with Trimble Estimating . Strong background in electrical estimating, project management, or electrical construction. Ability to teach and support adult learners with diverse skill levels and learning styles. Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills. Proficiency with digital takeoff tools and construction technology platforms. Commitment to workforce development, equity, and learner success. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching, training, or mentoring in a workforce or apprenticeship setting. Familiarity with workforce development reporting, credentialing, or employer engagement. Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Experience with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Procore, or similar tools. Work Environment & Schedule Classroom, computer lab, or hybrid training environment. May include daytime, evening, or weekend sessions to meet learner and employer needs.
